Applications and Target Markets The potential applications for Predictive Intelligence are numerous. Our focus is to pursue markets in which real-time and high-quality predictions are of paramount concern for effective decision-making. Our technology extends beyond optimization by incorporating real-time data in highly dynamic environments.
Two Fusion Numerics Predictive Intelligence platforms are currently in the final development stages, one for the correction of GPS signals through the prediction of ionospheric dynamics, and another for the assessment of environmental impacts through the prediction of global airborne pollutant transport. New applications under investigation include pathogen detection and drug design, both achieved through protein fold prediction; wireless sensor data and power management, and data fusion from distributed sensors, both in the realm of state-of-the-art wireless sensor networks; and security/threat assessment based on real-time data stream analysis.
Space Weather and GPS: Ionospheric dynamics negatively affect ground-to-satellite communications effectively disrupting location and navigation determination, frequently resulting in increased operational costs.
Air-Pollution Transport: Tracking air-borne pollutant transport is difficult due to relatively few sensors deployed. It is now possible to track harmful chemicals on a global scale, or to track small scale air-pollutant dispersion in a specific region.
Biotechnology: The three dimensional structure of a protein is the major factor determining its activity and function. With availability of the fully sequenced and annotated human genome, the challenge becomes identifying the interactions between proteins and genes.
Data Stream Analysis: Real-time applications for data mining require identification of emerging trends as they occur. A sophisticated technique known as temporal clustering is being developed to illuminate trends, in real-time.
Wireless Sensor Nets: With advances in micro sensors that are battery powered and wireless, ubiquitous wireless sensor networks are on the horizon that will allow unprecedented visibility into your system of interest.
