Development Process

Research, Development, and Engineering Our development process begins with an evaluation of your system of interest including current model representations and/or data available. We collect and document your requirements and analyze your needs. In some cases interests may lean toward the current state view, or "nowcast", of all the variables that compose your system; in other cases predicting, or "forecasting" the key variables of your system are more important. With this foundation of understanding we are able to propose a solution or options for consideration. Then the engineering begins.

Our development process relies on three technological components:

1. System Modeling: A cross-disciplinary team of researchers constructs computational algorithms based on physical models appropriate for abstracting the behavior of the system of interest. Our development framework permits the incorporation of a wide variety of system models, which can be either derived from first principles or based on heuristic or empirical techniques.

2. Data Fusion: The computationally efficient development framework is capable of assimilating real-time observations into the system of interest. ystem model relationships are continually adjusted to limit the "error growth" which usually impairs models lacking this self-correcting capability.

3. Confidence Level Determination: Sophisticated analytical techniques compensate for model imperfections or data incompleteness, narrowing the margin of error in the platform predictions, resulting in a consistent and defined level of confidence for each parameter of interest.

Critical to delivering a robust software product that will quickly recapture its cost is our product development methodology. We use commercial best practice development techniques, called Rational Unified Process, which generally surpass the widespread standards found in academic or research environments. Rapid development, robustness, and cost control are achieved through modular programming and mapping, ongoing documentation, and a project management framework.
